Review: The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas from Autograph Collection, USA. (2023)

A recent trip to Las Vegas, USA took us to The Cosmopolitan Las Vegas; a mega luxury casino complex in a prime location right on the South Las Vegas Strip. During our two night stay at this wonderful property, we enjoyed the resort's two pools, as well as a superb one bedroom fountain view suite. What would our experience at The Cosmopolitan look like?

This post is a chapter of our journey towards the end of the pandemic in Las Vegas, United States. "The Cosmopolitan Las Vegas offers rooms with spectacular fountain-view balconies in a world-class location along with outstanding resort amenities in the heart of the South Las Vegas Strip."

The Las Vegas Cosmopolitan has been on my list for a number of years. The hotel has an excellent location in Las Vegas; sandwiched between the fountains of the Bellagio Resort and the Aria Casino. The hotel has a seamless partnership with Marriott Bonvoy and offers some limited award benefits to top Marriott elites.

The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas caters to travelers between the ages of 25 and 55 and is known for its adult orientation and entertainment atmosphere. Representing the Autograph Collection hotel brand within the Marriott Bonvoy portfolio, it represents a unique, upscale, premium brand in a bright, resort-like setting.

Reservations not at the Cosmopolitan Las Vegas:

Hotel prices in Las Vegas change by a minute from New York and are largely based on supply and demand. Given the bad experience we had with this hotel offering upgrades to Marriott Elite, our goal was to book the room type we wanted to stay in. We regard every further improvement as a plus point.

We booked a one bedroom patio balcony view for $360 approximately 60 days prior to travel. The fee was reduced to $330 approximately 30 days prior to travel and $280 approximately 7 days prior to travel. We had a flexible date so we rebooked to the lower category each time. The hotel will charge one night's deposit at the time of booking. However, this was enforced at checkout with no issues and we had no issues with billing.

The hotel operates under the American Express Fine Hotels and Resorts program. Booking through this channel entitles you to a $100 property service, free late check-out and guaranteed early check-in. However, there is no guarantee that the hotel will be credited as a qualifying stay for Marriott Bonvoy Elite or spent in the Marriott Bonvoy rewards program. As MrsWT73 was only a few nights away from maintaining her Platinum status, we ended up booking directly with Marriott Bonvoy. We would end up using the Marriott Titanium offered at 2pm. m. and we finally slept; Overlooking every breakfast concern.

Marriott Bonvoy Benefits at The Cosmopolitan Las Vegas:

The Hotel Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas publishes its Marriott Bonvoy benefits on its website. It offers a discounted version of the core benefits and actually has its own special exception to the Marriott Bonvoy program terms and conditions.

As we remain Marriott Titanium Level Members, we are offered the following benefits:

Benefits of the Cosmopolitan Marriott Bonvoy Titanium:

  • 75% bonus points on stays
  • Access to the Autograph Lounge (including coffee, tea and water service)
  • Room upgrade with level 1 upgrade (subject to availability at check-in)
  • 1000 pointsÖ$10 food and beverage credit
  • Preferred late check-out at 2:00 p.m. (subject to availability)
  • Express seating at the Wicked Spoon Buffet (subject to availability) including a 15% discount for up to 4 people (without alcohol)
  • Non-hotel guests with Marriott Bonvoy Titanium Elite status receive expedited seating (subject to availability) and paymentonly no wicked spoon buffet
  • 15% discount on Sahra Spa, Salon and Hammam services (excluding day passes and retail purchases)

While partnering with Marriott Bonvoy isn't as generous as we'd like, it's always nice to have the opportunity to earn Marriott Bonvoy points. A late check out at 2pm. m. It's not that bad either, along with some accelerated line perks.

How to get to Cosmopolitan Las Vegas:

We arrived at Harry Reid International Airport from Las Vegas and took a scheduled taxi from the airport to the hotel. The taxi was $23 in Zone 2. Thanks to the fixed price, the drive to the south side of the airport wasn't far.

The Cosmopolitan is located in an upscale neighborhood on the Las Vegas Strip. Its location is well placed for anything south facing on the Las Vegas Strip. Many major sights and attractions are within walking distance from The Cosmopolitan Las Vegas. including the fountains at Belaggio, the Effiel Tower in Paris Las Vegas, the shops at Crystals Las Vegas, and the Aria Resort and Casino.

The Cosmopolitan Las Vegas is one of the top casino hotels in Las Vegas and we found the location very convenient for a short stay.

Check-in im Cosmopolitan Las Vegas:

We arrived at the Las Vegas Cosmopolitan subway station by taxi. The underground car park gate is usually manned during arrival times. We could easily access and navigate the lobby.

Review: The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas from Autograph Collection, USA. (1)

The check-in area is located directly in the arrivals area. This is very convenient as there are no elevators or changing floors to navigate with bags to get to your room.

(Video) THE COSMOPOLITAN OF LAS VEGAS, AUTOGRAPH COLLECTION - Las Vegas, Nevada, USA

The lobby is signaled with a huge standard light wall with interactive columns with monitors. The general registration area has long tables which were very busy. Sometimes we saw more than 12 receptionists checking in guests.

Review: The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas from Autograph Collection, USA. (3)

If you are a Marriott Bonvoy Gold Elite or above, you are eligible to use the front desk check-in line. If you are a Platinum member of Cosmopolitan Identity (highest published level), you are also eligible to use the guest check-in queue.

Review: The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas from Autograph Collection, USA. (4)

The regular hotel check-in line was quite long and even the guest line was full when we arrived at 7pm.

Over the course of our stay, we noticed that the guest registration line occasionally filled up to 10 people, but was completely empty most of the time.

We were able to access The Autograph Lounge instead. The autograph lounge is accessible to those with Marriott Bonvoy Platinum status or higher. It's a tier up from the Guest Line, but not as exclusive as the VIP Guest Line, which you must be coded to use.

Review: The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas from Autograph Collection, USA. (5)

The Autograph Lounge is a small room for around 10 people and is more of a circular space than an area that exudes lavish elegance. The Autograph Lounge offered a small seating area, a concierge desk, and a check-in area with two desks. It also offered freshly ground coffee, tea and water from a small counter in the corner.

Review: The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas from Autograph Collection, USA. (6)

When we checked in, we were given the room type we had booked without an additional upgrade as a Marriott Bonvoy Titanium Level; a one bedroom suite overlooking the fountain. Our stay was on a Wednesday and Thursday evening and there was a Cisco conference going on while we were there.

We had a pleasant registration host who was efficient without being intrusive or intrusive.

While we would normally negotiate a Marriott Bonvoy Platinum complimentary breakfast during an in-person stay, The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas has a special exception to the Marriott Bonvoy program terms and conditions. That's why we now accept a $10 food and beverage credit as our Elite Welcome Perk.

We get room #1821 at the Chelsea Tower, the westernmost tower.

The Room: A one bedroom suite with a terrace overlooking the fountain

We showed ourselves to our assigned room of 1821. Given the volume of travelers through this hotel, no help was offered with our luggage nor did we seek help.

Review: The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas from Autograph Collection, USA. (7)

The Terrace One Bedroom Fountain View Suite is a well appointed 610 square foot room with a 110 square foot outdoor terrace. It is exceptionally comfortable and among the most spacious Las Vegas hotel rooms I have ever stayed in. The shape of the floor plan of the room was a long rectangle.

Review: The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas from Autograph Collection, USA. (8)

To the waiting area:

Immediately after entering the room you are in the living room. The living room had a large sectional sofa. It was anchored by a flat screen TV and some trendy books.

In the center of the room, which opened onto the living room, was a small desk. Space wasn't huge, but enough to get online and make a few business calls, with the resort's WiFi strong enough to support functional MS Teams calls.

Review: The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas from Autograph Collection, USA. (12)

The lounge area offered a fully stocked sensor minibar. There was also a selection of snacks in the minibar.

The room also offered a separate fridge for "other drinks". It was great to have access to a refrigerator as many Las Vegas hotels either don't offer one or only provide it for "medical reasons". We were able to pour some champagne in this area to enjoy on the outside terrace.

Review: The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas from Autograph Collection, USA. (17)

A bench area, which doubled as a dressing room, moved to the center of the room.

Review: The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas from Autograph Collection, USA. (18)

In the central area we find closets full of luxurious robes, more than 10 hangers (ideal for hanging suits and cocktail dresses) and an in-room safe.

One Bedroom - King Size:

The bedroom was at the front and closest to the suite's windows. It was a little compact but was well positioned by the windows overlooking the fountain.

The sleeping area was not separated from the other parts of the bedroom by a wall. Instead, it had a small divider that we didn't have to use.

Review: The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas from Autograph Collection, USA. (23)

The room had a flat screen TV and the only USB capable chargers in the room for devices.

Review: The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas from Autograph Collection, USA. (24)

Bathroom/shower area:

The bathroom was divided into three rooms; a toilet, a double vanity and a whirlpool bathtub. Starting with the bathroom area, a double sink was offered. The sink area itself was a bit compact for two, but still appreciated having twice the space of a single sink.

Review: The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas from Autograph Collection, USA. (25)
Review: The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas from Autograph Collection, USA. (26)

There was a small bathroom just to the right of the sink area. The room was lavishly decorated, with a barcode-style image protruding from the walls.

Review: The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas from Autograph Collection, USA. (27)

The shower area offered a room with a large spacious shower. The shower room led into a deep Japanese tub, with a window overlooking the Strip.

Review: The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas from Autograph Collection, USA. (28)

The shower area offered handy shelves for your own toiletries as well as a towel rail in the shower which came in handy.

Review: The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas from Autograph Collection, USA. (29)

The Japanese bathtub offered one of the most unique views of the city of any bathtub in existence. Aside from the luxurious tubs in the overwater villas, I can't think of any other city view room that offers such a high-profile tub view.

Die Außenterrasse – Room with Views:

The One Bedroom Fountain View Terrace Room offers a 110 square foot outdoor terrace. Having an outdoor patio in a Las Vegas hotel room is a unique feature since most hotel rooms are in glass towers that don't actually have windows that open. If you're looking for a room with a hotel patio or balcony, The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas or the MGM Grand Signature Suites are your obvious choices. The Las Vegas Cosmopolitan is the clear winner in terms of views, with views of the Bellagio Fountain easily taking the crown, while the MGM Grand Signature Suites limit you to views of the Strip and Paradise (airport). 🇧🇷

On the outside terrace there was a sofa for three people and a deck chair. Since the outdoor furniture was a lighter color, the surfaces looked a bit drab.

Review: The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas from Autograph Collection, USA. (35)
Review: The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas from Autograph Collection, USA. (36)

The Terrace Fountain View Room offers one of the best possible views of the Bellagio fountains from a bedroom. It was a little different than I thought as the view took in many of the low rise buildings and parking garages between the Cosmopolitan and the Bellagio.

Review: The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas from Autograph Collection, USA. (37)
Review: The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas from Autograph Collection, USA. (38)

As with all things Las Vegas, the view was much better at night. There's nothing quite like admiring the Bellagio's fountains from the comfort of your suite while sipping your favorite champagne.

While we don't have an upper floor between 45 and 52, being on the 18th floor wasn't a prospect of what you'd expect from your favorite influencer's social media scroll, but it wasn't too bad either. I ended up spending more time on the terrace than I expected, enjoying the view.

I called them to ask them to bring some champagne glasses to enjoy the champagne on the patio and was charged $11 for room service. I ended up running to the Vesper Bar at the foot of the Chelsea Tower and they were able to provide it for free.

Overall, the sleep quality in the room was very good for a hotel with over 3,000 rooms. The hallways were quiet and we weren't awakened by any extraneous noises from outside the hotel or from the street.

Finally, for a hotel built in 2004, the room was in excellent condition and quality. The room had no signs of wear.

(Video) Hotel and room review of The Cosmopolitan Las Vegas | Boulevard Pool | Bonvoy Autograph Collection

Around the resort grounds:

The Cosmopolitan Las Vegas offers an array of features and amenities. It would be impossible to cover them all during our short two night stay. As a result, I will cover the things that we used during our stay.

Chelsea-Pool:

The hotel offers two pool areas that are accessible to guests; Chelsea Pool and Boulevard Pool. There is also a private pay-as-you-go pool event at the Marquee Day/Night Club.

We had a full day of hot summer desert at Chelsea Pool during our stay. The Chelsea Pool is located on the 14th floor of the Chelsea Tower. Chelsea Pool is the largest pool at the Las Vegas Cosmopolitan. The pool isn't as large as at The Mandalay Bay, Aria Resort and Spa, or MGM Grand, all of which are known for their large, resort-style pools.

Considering that the Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas Hotel has 3,000 rooms, there isn't a decent amount of seating here with room for only about three hundred visitors. So you need to be here at a reasonable time if you're hoping for a free lounger. Alternatively, you can book and rent one of the available cabins starting at $300.

Review: The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas from Autograph Collection, USA. (43)

Access to the Chelsea pool was via the key shower of your Cosmopolitan room in the Tower Cabins. Towels were distributed (two per guest).

Review: The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas from Autograph Collection, USA. (44)

The pool itself was very quiet in the mornings before midday, no problem getting a lounger on a weekday. The area filled up in the afternoon.

Review: The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas from Autograph Collection, USA. (45)

With its southern exposure we had a full view of the sun for most of the day until about 4:30pm. as the sun was obstructed by the nearby Vdara Tower.

Review: The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas from Autograph Collection, USA. (46)

Academy for Chelsea:

The Chelsea Fitness Center was located right next to the access to the Chelsea Pool. The Chelsea Fitness Center was open between 6am and 6pm when we visited.

The gym was much more spacious than I expected at 5,250 square feet and contained a variety of cardio and weight machines. The space offered natural light through the floor and was not relegated to a basement as is often the case in high-end hotels.

Review: The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas from Autograph Collection, USA. (47)

The gym was fully occupied when we visited and offered small bottles of water in addition to towel service.

The Boulevardbad:

We spent the morning of our last day at the Boulevard Pool. The Boulevard Pool overlooks the Las Vegas Strip and offers a unique view of the Las Vegas Strip landmarks.

Review: The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas from Autograph Collection, USA. (48)

Access to the Boulevard Pool was via velvet ropes and escalators next to the Chandelier Bar in the Boulevard Tower on the fourth floor. When we got to the Boulevard Pool, we found a more dense area, with ground-level seating that took advantage of the view and available space.

The Boulevard Pool offered a significant number of in-water lounge chairs that could be set up to take advantage of the intense heat of the Las Vega desert.

Review: The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas from Autograph Collection, USA. (49)

There was also a large indoor jacuzzi area which I never used.

Review: The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas from Autograph Collection, USA. (50)

At the back of the boulevard pool area is a small pool that can be used for water sports. It also featured a high-density lounging area.

Review: The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas from Autograph Collection, USA. (51)

MrsWT73 liked this particular room at the Boulevard Pool much more than The Chelsea Pool and found the atmosphere to be much more mature and sophisticated with some views quite appealing.

There was a bar next to the boulevard pool and we were able to stay hydrated with drinks and cocktails for $20 and wines for $15.

To eat and drink:

The Restaurant Collection:

The Cosmopolitan Las Vegas offers over 26 on-site restaurants in The Restaurant Collection.

a prostitute will do this

Since we didn't have breakfast included and didn't feel like an elaborate buffet at Wicked Spoon, I kept an eye on Eggslut.

Egg Slut has introduced an "all day breakfast," adding a mainstream Starbucks and cold-pressed juice bar, The Juice Standard, to the resort's breakfast menu.

However, when I walked by on a Thursday morning, Egg Slut easily had over a hundred people in line. The line went around the back of the restaurant and reached the other side of the hotel lobby.

Review: The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas from Autograph Collection, USA. (55)

I missed the chance to wait in line and finally decided to come back a little later instead of committing to the 45 minute wait for an egg sandwich. Unfortunately the "all day breakfast" ended at 2pm. on the day of our visit; something buried on the site and not something I would have thought for a restaurant that advertised itself as "all day breakfast" in a city known for never sleeping.

Chelsea-Pool:

We spent one of our days on the hotel grounds by the Chelsea Pool. Not wanting to take off our bathing suits and forgo the coveted sun loungers in the water, we enjoyed breakfast/lunch by the pool.

The Chelsea Pool offers a snack and drinks menu. Although the food and drink isn't marketed as a separate restaurant, it's possible to order and enjoy food near the Chelsea Pool.

(Video) The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas Hotel Tour | Las Vegas, USA | Traveller Passport

MrsWT73 was able to enjoy flatbread and hummus. MrsWT73 gave it good grades and liked it very much.

Review: The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas from Autograph Collection, USA. (56)

When I had a hearty breakfast burrito with chorizo, scrambled eggs, crispy potatoes,
Jack cheese, chipotle cream, pico de gallo along with medium salsa. it was a large portion.

Review: The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas from Autograph Collection, USA. (57)

Chelsea Pool offers a wide range of drinks and snacks and I've included a copy of the menu here to see what to expect from a day at the pool.

The bill for lunch at The Chelsea Pool was an $18 breakfast burritto and a $12 pita and hummus paired with a $14 rose wine for a total of $53 with tax and tip.

Bang Bar by Momofuku:

Finally, after saying goodbye to Eggslut, we enjoyed some flatbreads at Momofuku's Bang Bar. Momofuku's Bang Bar was located in Block 16 Food Fair District on the third floor of The Cosmopolitan.

We enjoyed some Spicy Grilled Pork Flatbreads which were delicious and more than I expected.

Bars und Lounges:

In addition to dozens of restaurants, The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas also has dozens of bars and lounges available on-site. While we haven't had the chance to go through all of them, some of the most well-known are listed below.

The Spider Rod:

The Chandelier Bar is an offshoot of the Cosmopolitan Hotel of Las Vegas. As a multi-storey hall, it looks good from almost every angle. It is located in the Bouvelard Tower, which is closest to the Las Vegas Strip.

  • Review: The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas from Autograph Collection, USA. (62)

Though it's best known for its more Instagrammable pics alongside the jewelry hanging from the ceiling, it's easy to grab a drink here given its convenient location right on the Las Vegas Strip.

The night before:

The Vesper offers the best cocktails at The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas. It is located right next to the reception and lobby.

Review: The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas from Autograph Collection, USA. (63)

Given its location next to the front desk, it's likely to be the first lounge you come upon upon exiting your room while staying at The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas.

Departing from Cosmopolitan Las Vegas:

We ended up leaving the Las Vegas Cosmopolitan at 2pm. We visited the Autograph Lounge and there was no line. The bill was ok and there was nothing unexpected about the bill. The service was friendly and attentive.

Despite reports of problems with booking Marriott Bonvoy points correctly, we had our Marriott Bonvoy points posted to our account correctly on the 7th day after our stay.

Review: The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas from Autograph Collection, USA. (64)

Conclusion: The cosmopolitan Las Vegas

The Las Vegas Cosmopolitan has something for almost everyone in the 25-55 age group. As an adult-oriented resort, it clearly caters to this demographic.

While we would have appreciated higher perks like the Marriott Bonvoy Elite, this experience is fairly typical of all Las Vegas casino hotels. The ability to earn points is always great, although I'm not expecting much in the way of rewards or upgrades.

We got the booked room category and were quite happy with the room. The opportunity to have an outdoor patio in Las Vegas is unique and limited to this property and a few others.

Overall, we like the property's decor, pool, and amenities. While there was an abundance of food, it wasn't always easy to access due to queues and limited opening hours.

We would not hesitate to return to this hotel as it has just the right mix of new, great fit and features and a great location.

If you've been to the Cosmopolitan Las Vegas, why do you keep coming back?
