All you need for your first class is comfortable clothes. A fitted t-shirt or rash guard is ideal, shorts without pockets are preferable. For women, tights and a top are fine. However, if you have a kimono or jiu-jitsu gi, you can wear it.
A bottle of water and a small towel to dry off after class are also a good idea.
Absolutely not! We have tons of chalk ready and available to rent and use for your first week or so. However, once you fall in love with Jiu-Jitsu, we have phenomenal Gis available to purchase.

YEAH! Jiu-Jitsu is an excellent option for women, mainly because it contributes to self-defense, a sense of community and belonging, and of course, physical and mental conditioning. When an "opponent's" physical size exceeds ours, Jiu-Jitsu trains us to use leverage and specific techniques to close that gap.
Membership fees are a completely made up method that some gyms use to try to "take advantage" of their customers. There are no entrance fees into the Temple. We have multiple purchase options including monthly VIP, monthly. 10 packs, drop-ins, etc. See the Membership tab for more information.
We often receive visitors from all over the world for training. With connections around the world and a base on a tropical vacation island, many of our clients come to train with us for weeks or months.
Certainly! The workout is not only incredibly fun, but it also improves muscle tone, body coordination, cardiovascular fitness, muscular endurance, balance, and (inevitably) reduces overall body fat. With that being said, make sure you stay hydrated and energized before and after your workout.

Naturally. At Temple we have gi and no gi courses for MMA beginners, competitors and fighters.
It really depends on your lifestyle and goals. You can exercise as little or as often as you like, but for maximum benefit we recommend for beginners at least 2-3 times per week. We have membership options for every need.
It can take 10 years or more of hard work and constant training to reach a black belt.
Twice daily, the entire area of the carpet is vacuumed, then cleaned and sanitized with a skin-friendly, antifungal, antibacterial cleaning solution. Our locker rooms, restrooms, weight room, and common areas are also cleaned and maintained daily.
Also, as general rules for our members, we require shoes to be worn at all times when not on the tatami, a new gi must be worn for each class (if multiple in a row), and dirty gis may not be worn in the living room strength, when someone chooses to lift weights after class.We are following the strict Covid-19 protocols in force.
